Net-Zero Historic Remodel
The owners of this historic home in downtown Portsmouth wanted to make it energy efficient, while still retaining its traditional style (and satisfying the requirements of the city’s Historic District Commission). After being taken down to its bare bones, the New Englander was rebuilt into a light-filled net-zero home featuring an airtight building envelope, super-insulated walls, and highly efficient HVAC systems powered by solar energy.
